At only 24 years of age she has already achieved legendary status in women's surfing.
After four years of domination, the Australian lost her world crown to young Carissa Moore last year in Biarritz. Steph had an inconsistent time during the 2011 season but resurfaced to the highest level by winning with class at the Roxy Pro Biarritz last year.
This return to form is proof of her extraordinary
motivation to reach the top of the world rankings.
Indeed, one year after having lost her top ranking, Steph
regained her place as World No. 1 at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast in early March after a victory in the final over Laura Enever.
The Quiksilver Woman ambassador is clearly going for her fifth world title. Not content to lead just a distinguished sporting career, Steph Gilmore has many other passions including music, photography and dancing. Her role as an ambassador of the Quiksilver Foundation includes promoting many positive causes.
